PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Make a difference—become an elementary classroom teacher

Our Accelerated Teacher Education Partnership is designed to help individuals become certified teachers in a shorter time, between 12 and 24 months. The elementary program is for those who want to teach elementary regular education for early years through pre-adolescence (ages 6-13, usually grades 1-8). In this program, students can partner with a school district and get real-life experience in a physical classroom. Aspiring teachers will work with experienced mentors while also completing coursework. The credits earned can be used towards a Master of Arts in Education.

Our program offers asynchronous and 8-week long classes, which means students have a flexible schedule to manage studies and work. This program is made specifically for emergency-licensed teachers, career changers, recent college graduates, and working adults. To finish the program and receive the teaching license, students need to complete all coursework, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, get positive feedback from clinical instructors, pass either the Wisconsin Foundations of Reading Test or the Edgewood College Alternative FoRT Reading Portfolio, and successfully complete the teacher performance assessment at the end of the program.

Courses are designed to provide you up-to-date teaching knowledge

To complete the Accelerated Teacher Education Partnership online program, students must complete 24 credit hours of coursework and fulfill their clinical teaching experiences.

The initial licensure sequence includes 24 credits of coursework, supervised clinical field experiences, and supervised student teaching. These credits can then be applied toward a 30-credit Master of Arts in Education degree.
